Auriculotherapy is a non-invasive form of electrical stimulation to the external ear that can relieve pain and assist with the symptoms of addictive behaviors, including weight loss and smoking cessation.
While the origin of auriculotherapy is based on ancient Chinese acupuncture, in the 1950′s the late Dr. Paul Nogier developed the current methods in France utilizing electrical stimulation without needles. This work led to the mapping of reflex areas in the external ear relating to a wide variety of disorders and complaints.
Auriculotherapy is administered while a patient is lying down. An instrument is used to measure skin resistance at various points on the outer ear. When an area of lower skin resistance is found, electronic stimulation is given to that location. This helps balance the body’s energy and releases endorphins which can relieve pain and manage a wide range of symptoms. We often recommend auriculotherapy for our HCG Weight Loss Intervention patients to help with hunger and satiation.
Auriculotherapy generally takes 30 minutes per session to administer. Multiple individual sessions, spread over several weeks, are generally recommended to achieve optimal results; the auriculotherapy therapist will create a treatment plan that is specific to your needs.

Patient Testimonial
Sometimes I can feel the pain dissipating while getting an auricular treatment for pain around the pelvis or the back of the knee. Oftentimes, as in the case of my hands, it has taken several months of treatments for the pain in my fingers to go away and for them to stop ‘clicking’ when I open and close my hands. All I know is that I hate to miss one of my weekly treatments!” -Maggie
