I am a Physician, Naturopath/Nurse Practitioner/Chiropractor; can I order laboratory tests on my patients?
Yes, any of the healthcare professionals listed above may order any of the tests in our test menu on their patients. The test results will be sent directly to you.
I live in New York State; can I order tests for my patients from your laboratory?
Bio-Center Laboratory is a fully licensed, CLIA inspected and certified laboratory, however the state of New York requires an additional state issued license in order for laboratories to perform testing on residents. We are not currently licensed by the state of New York.
How do I collect and process my specimens?
Bio-Center Laboratory will provide you with a specimen collection kit that includes detailed specimen collection instruction, a shipping container, and prepaid shipping labels for residents of the continental United States.
How long will it take to get my test kit?
Delivery takes approximately 7-10 business days via FedEx Smartpost®. If you would like your kit sooner, call us to request faster shipping at your expense. We can have your kit there as soon as the next day.
Is the cost of shipping included in the test price?
Shipping is included for all customers residing in the continental United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Specimens will be returned to us via prepaid FedEx® Priority overnight deliver. All other customers will be charged for delivery of the collection kit, and will need to make separate overnight shipping arrangements for the return of the specimens.
How much does international shipping cost?

When should I ship my specimens?
Specimens should be shipped Monday through Thursday only. Bio-Center Laboratory is closed on weekends and major holidays, and we recommend shipping accordingly to ensure the integrity of the specimens.
I do not have the facilities to collect and process specimens in my office. What should I do?
We suggest that you locate a laboratory in your area that will collect and process the specimens for you. This service is provided by many laboratories for a fee. An order from a medical doctor may be required for the blood draw.
How long does it take to receive test results?
Most tests are completed and mailed within 10 calendar days from when the specimen was received.
How do I get the results?
Test results are sent via the postal service to the ordering healthcare professional or their designated representative. In accordance with regulations governing clinical laboratories and federal patient confidentiality laws, results cannot be sent directly to a patient without written permission from the healthcare professional. Patients may request a copy of their results from their healthcare professional.
Can the results be faxed or emailed?
Test results will be faxed to healthcare providers if a fax number is provided in the indicated section on the test requisition form. We do not send results via email.
I am a healthcare practitioner; however I am unfamiliar with or have some questions about a particular test? Is there someone I can speak to?
Our staff is available to speak to you about our test procedures and methodology. Our laboratory director is also available to speak with you (by appointment) should you have additional questions.
Do you file claims with private Insurance, Medicare or Medicaid?
Bio Center Laboratory files only Medicare insurance. Medicare has advised us not to file the tests which are considered non-covered. Payment for non-Medicare patients and non-covered testing is due at time of service or can be billed to your account. We will provide a statement of services rendered for your patients to use if they would like to file a claim with private insurance. Please have your patients contact their insurance provider for any questions concerning coverage and reimbursement.
Does private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid pay for any of your tests?
Medicare will only pay for services that it determines to be “reasonable and necessary” under section 1862(a)(1) of the Medicare law. If Medicare determines that a particular service, although it would otherwise be covered, is “not reasonable and necessary” under Medicare program standards, Medicare will deny payment for that service. Medicare does not cover some of the tests performed here, since some are consider “preventive”. Medicare pays only for tests it considers “medically necessary”. How do I pay for testing? Can you bill me monthly?
Bio-Center Laboratory provides two payment options for healthcare providers:
Option 1 – Payment from the patient or medical facility accompanies the specimen shipment. Patient’s full name, address, date of birth, gender, and telephone number are required for processing the payment. Doctor’s orders must be included with the payment and a properly filled out requisition. All test results will be sent to the ordering physician. Therefore, the physician’s full name & degree (MD, ND, OD, etc), address, telephone number (and fax number, if faxed reports are also desired) must be submitted with all specimens. Bio-Center Laboratory will send a receipt to the patient for insurance reimbursement.
Option 2 – Monthly billing is available to healthcare providers. All new accounts must send a check or valid credit card information with shipment of the first specimen. For future shipments, we will invoice the referring facility each month (as needed) for each assay ordered. Payment is due within 30 days of invoice. The referring facility or physician’s full name & degree (MD, ND, OD, etc…), the physician/facility’s address and telephone number (include fax number, if faxed reports are also desired) must be submitted with all specimens. Bio-Center Laboratory will send a receipt to the referring facility/physician.
Personal checks, business checks, or credit cards are acceptable payment options. If paying by credit card: include the credit card number and the date of expiration, the name of the credit card holder (as printed on the credit card), the card holder’s signature, and the amount of payment to be charged to the account.

How do I cancel a test?
Please send/fax a written request for cancellation to Bio-Center Laboratory any time prior to the release of the results.

Can I order laboratory test without a Physician’s order?
Bio-Center Laboratory is an open laboratory, and as such, individuals can order laboratory testing without an order from a physician.

Can you help me interpret my results and/or suggest a course of treatment?
Your test results will include a normal range, and you can determine if your values fall outside this range. You must address all questions of treatment and interpretation of results to your personal physician or healthcare provider. Only they are qualified to make treatment recommendations based on your medical history, symptoms and your laboratory test results.
Does private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid pay for any of your tests?
Bio-Center Laboratory does not require a physician’s order for laboratory testing, however a physician’s order is required in order to file services with Medicare and other health insurance providers. Private Insurance and Medicare will not reimburse claims for testing performed without an order from a physician. Payment for testing is due when the test kit is ordered. How do I cancel a test?
Testing may be cancelled at no charge prior to shipping of the collection kit. After the collection kit has been shipped, a $40 cancellation fee will be charged to your credit card.
