Is Cancer a Non-Healing Wound?
The 3rd Riordan IVC and Cancer Symposium will once again explore the underlying causes of cancer, with the intent of elucidating new ways to treat the disease in a non-toxic fashion. Many cancer risk factors are associated with wound-like conditions: the chronic injury and inflammation of smoking leading to lung cancer; liver, colon, and prostate inflammation leading to cancers of these tissues; chronic stomach infections and ulcerations that set the stage for gastric cancer.
Chronic inflammation appears to be a common denominator of both cancer causation and propagation. Inflammation can be triggered by chronic irritation or injury as induced by radiation or carcinogenic burden. The biological consequences of infection, stress, aging, and malnutrition can further amplify the inflammatory processes that surround the genesis and growth of cancer.
Could cancer be understood then as a non-healing wound? Does intravenous vitamin C mimic a dose response curve where adequate tissue levels of ascorbate replicates an ancient inflammatory-modulating, wound-healing response to chronic injury and infection?
The Riordan IVC Protocol for Cancer is well recognized in the integrative and orthomolecular medicine community and is commonly used as an effective adjunct to conventional oncologic therapy. More than 80 IVC practitioners from around the world attended each of the 2009 and 2010 Riordan IVC and Cancer Symposiums to discuss cancer protocols. Our 2012 symposium will serve as an excellent opportunity for IVC practitioners to become more involved with IVC Therapy, adjunct therapies and expound new approaches to treating cancer.
